Although Dr. Scheid has performed over 6,000 successful spine surgeries, he is not one to immediately recommend surgery to his patients. He approaches each case with a step-by-step methodology, starting with a precise and deliberate examination to pinpoint the root of the problem. This individualized approach to patient care is what sets Dr. Scheid apart from other physicians. After finding the source of a patient’s pain, he creates a tailored treatment plan to help alleviate their discomfort and improve their quality of life. As a specialist in reoperative spine surgery and spinal cord stimulation, Dr. Scheid has the training and experience to help those who have failed traditional spine surgery or have been deemed not suitable for it. He has dedicated his career to advancing the field of spinal surgery and improving patient outcomes.
Dr. Scheid’s journey in the medical field began at John Carroll University in Cleveland, OH, where he received the Presidential Scholarship for Academic Achievement. He went on to graduate with honors from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia, where he was one of the top five students in a class of over 230 graduates. His accomplishments earned him membership in the Alpha Omega Alpha and Hobart Amory Hare Medical Societies. Following his education, Dr. Scheid completed his internship in general surgery at Jefferson Hospital and residency in neurosurgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital and the Jefferson Hospital for Neurosciences. He continued his training at the Delaware Valley Regional Spinal Cord Injury Center, a renowned center for spinal disorder treatment, where he honed his surgical skills and learned from some of the world’s leading neurosurgical and orthopedic spine surgeons.
Dr. Scheid’s research focus is on enhancing the safety of spine surgery. His recent publication in The Spine Journal, which outlines a new neuromonitoring protocol for lateral access spine surgery, is a testament to his dedication to the field. Dr. Scheid’s accomplishments and expertise have earned him recognition from several prestigious organizations, including the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, the Congress of Neurological Surgeons, the American Academy of Neurological Surgeons, the North American Spine Society, and the American Medical Association. He is a true leader in the field of spine surgery and a valued asset to his patients.
As a physician, Dr. Scheid’s primary goal is to provide the best possible care to his patients. He takes a step-by-step approach to ensure that each patient receives a customized treatment plan that addresses their specific needs. With over 6,000 successful spine surgeries as his repertoire and a commitment to advancing the field of spinal surgery, Dr. Scheid is the ideal choice for anyone seeking effective and compassionate care.
